August is a shapeshifter who hides his truest and most comfortable shape by day, only allowing himself to exist by night. But, does he really have to hide? Surely not? At least, hopefully not, with his treasured friends by his side.
Author's Note
Drawn in a bit of a fuge state on one big long canvas, this comic is very messy and unedited writing-wise, but I did go in and split it all out into pages at some point, which required some layout tweaks.
"If only shapeshifting actually made being trans less complicated...", is how I'd summarise this one! Sadly I didn't manage to get as much complexity into this story as I'd have liked to put in it. But there ARE lots of big fluffy wings, because I really like drawing those. If that helps sell you on it.
Also, this comic should probably be treated as a modern AU of these characters! Initially their setting was more contemporary/modern, as seen here, but I ended up changing it to lean more heavily fantasy.
Alternatively, it can kind of be thought of as a 'first draft' of a section of August & Miles' stories.
